The Education, Development, Growth, and Enrichment program (EDGE) provides high quality training for consumer finance professionals, geared toward branch managers and team leaders by providing layered modules of learning. The program is run in collaboration with the Mercer University Stetson-Hatcher School of Business and offers the following management courses.

Year One courses focus on providing a sound understanding of:

  • Leadership
  • Time management
  • Consumer lending
  • Financial services law
  • Communications and conflict negotiations
  • Rates and profits
  • Performance management
  • Business ethics, and
  • Opportunities for engaging with the AFSA Education Foundation

Year Two courses build off the foundational concepts from the previous year to improve participants’ knowledge and use of:

  • Leadership
  • Financial statements
  • Competitive environment
  • Employment and financial services law
  • Monetary and funding strategies
  • Marketing strategies
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Community relations
  • Strategic planning, and
  • Being a great coach

As a part of the EDGE program, participants will also hear from the industry’s top executives who share their personal formulas for success in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. You can also find more information about the EDGE Advisory Board here.

The 2025 EDGE program has concluded, and the next EDGE program will take place July 19 – 24, 2026 in Atlanta. More information will be available soon. In the meantime, the 2025 program brochure can be found here as a reference.
