Finance course is offered through CareerTech Education. There are 10 standards in this course. Students may test using the Arizona Technical Skills Assessment after completion of the course.

Personal Finance Embedded in Social Studies or Economics Standards

All students are required to take comprehensive economics course during high school. Personal Financial Literacy standards are embedded in the course. These standards include but are not limited to budgeting, saving, spending, investment, credit, banking, and insurance.

Arizona enacted legislation in 2018, to instruct the superintendent of Public Instruction (SPI) to establish a State Seal of Personal Finance Proficiency Program to recognize public school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in personal finance. SB 1184, signed by the governor on April 11, 2019, Directs the State Board of Education (SBE) to require at least a one-half course credit in economics, which includes financial literacy and personal financial management, for high school graduation.
